About The Ruly Bully

Want to learn more about The Ruly Bully? Meet all of us, including Prim & Goomba! We love hearing from you, so drop us a message if you want to reach out!

Thanks for stopping by to learn about The Ruly Bully! Our goal is to make having a pup easier, cheaper, and more fun. We specialize in dog enrichment, DIY, and tips for living with dogs. We’ve done a lot of work with our pups over the last 8+ years and enjoy a challenge.

Even though we focus on bully breeds, like our own pups, our work is perfect for any dog breed! We give suggestions for modifying any equipment or activities for both larger and smaller dogs.

Our Inspiration

We’ve been through a lot with our two pups, Goomba & Prim. From recurring skin issues to MCTs and hypothyroidism to torn CCLs and reactivity, we know that having a dog isn’t always rainbows and unicorns.

Being a dog parent is expensive! Both of our pups are power chewers, and falling into the trap of purchasing “indestructible” pet toys gets expensive fast. Anyone who has a similar pup knows that no toy is indestructible, despite the advertising. Fortunately, there are other ways to entertain your pup besides expensive and short-lived toys.

Dog enrichment is an extremely broad category of activities, and options exist for every situation or pup! We try to tailor our enrichment ideas to low or no-cost options so that they are accessible to everyone. Our dogs love them, and it goes so much further than simply giving your pup a toy to destroy and walking away.

We also know every dog isn’t the same. The ways we train our two dogs are different, and the activities they enjoy are different. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to being a dog parent, so we strive to provide options and alternatives for as many situations as we can!

Our Mission & Goal

Our mission is to help make having a dog more fun!

Seriously, that’s it! To accomplish this, our content provides guidance on all our favorite enrichment ideas, geared toward lower-cost options. This will help give as many people the opportunity to try them with their dogs by eliminating the barrier of cost. Some ideas will of course cost money, but we’ll give our tips on how to keep it as low as possible.

We’ll also be doing reviews of products that we have used for extended periods. Our reviews will include our actually used products in pictures, so they won’t look like they are new just out of the box. If you find one of our posts helpful, share it with a friend or purchase from one of our affiliate links. If not, thanks for stopping by and giving us a chance!

About The Ruly Bully team

About the ruly bully - lincoln and sarah

Hi, I’m Lincoln, the owner and primary writer here at The Ruly Bully.

I graduated from West Virginia University in 2012 with a B.S. in chemical engineering (where I met my wife, Sarah) and spent some time in the US Marines, the pharmaceutical industry, and the oil & gas industry.

When I’m not working on The Ruly Bully, I enjoy spending time with Sara, our pups, and other critters (we have a cat, turtle, gecko, turtle, 10 (!) aquariums). When I’m not interacting with our pets, I spend most of the rest of my time on fitness and home projects that never get done as fast as I would like.

About the ruly bully - goomba

Goomba is our resident high play-drive pup and our first pup together! He loves chasing, fetching, and tugging all the time!.  Goomba is a mix of American Pit Bull Terrier, Rotweiller, Boxer, and “Supermutt”.

We’ve had Goomba since we adopted him from a West Virginia shelter in 2016 (shout out to my sister for the assist!) when he was less than 1 year old

Goomba is also our resident reactive pup. He is fearful of both people and dogs but loves Prim, our cat, and a select few people. He’s been through 3 knee surgeries, so we’ve been through a lot together!

About the ruly bully - prim

This is Prim, our resident high food-drive pup! She loves running, sniffing, and anything that involves food. Prim is an American pit bull terrier.

Prim was born in 2016, and we’ve had her since she was 1.5 years old. We got Prim from a rescue group based in Washington, PA. She tries her best to be a potato most of the day.

Prim loves people and enjoys trying to chase our local wildlife until they run up a tree or fly away. She’s not good at it, but keeps trying anyway! Prim’s other hobbies include baking in the sun, sleeping, and zooming! We found out she had hypothyroidism a few years ago, but she’s doing well now.
